Merrill Pappin (Maternity Leave)
Registered PhysiotherapistMerrill graduated from Queen’s University with a Master’s in Physical Therapy. Prior to that she completed an Undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa in Health Science. Throughout her time at the University of Ottawa, Merrill completed an honours project with the Interdisciplinary Women’s Health Research group as well as worked as a research assistant alongside pelvic physiotherapy researchers. It was here that Merrill developed a strong interest in the field of physiotherapy.
During her time at Queen’s University, she gained experience working in a variety of orthopedic and sport injury settings with a focus on manual therapy skills and exercise prescription. After her first year of studies, she was awarded the scholarship in Physical Therapy, a distinction given to the student who embodies the values and best exemplifies all the roles and competencies of physical therapy in Canada.
To date, Merrill has pursued extra training that contribute to her good patient outcomes, including EIM Functional Dry Needling level 1. She has gained certifications with Pelvic Health Solutions making her skilled in treating urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and a variety of pelvic pain disorders. She enjoys combining her skillset in both orthopedic and pelvic physiotherapy to create an open and non-judgemental atmosphere where every patient receives a tailored treatment plan and leaves physiotherapy feeling empowered and resilient in their body.
In her spare time, Merrill enjoys cycling, long distance running, golfing, rock climbing, and cross-country skiing. She is actively involved in the Ottawa-Kanata community and volunteers as the events coordinator for the Kanata Nordic Ski Club
